Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice

I bend my arm at the elbow

When you say my name

I feel the clouds above.

Tonight is the darkest night

In 300 or so years

But everyone else watches shadows

on the moon from clearer skies –

AJ from Georgia knows we are high

Because you told him

And we eat two dollar waffles at the

Waffle House

While he tells us about E

And his rage

For those high schoolers doing

Drugs in the bathroom

And the others,

recording us on flip camera;

I rotate my wrist

Spread my fingers wide

My palm is opening between

The knuckles.

You are not

And I am not
